How To: Clean Brushes

April 20, 2015

The right tool is so important when achieving the look you want. It’s the difference between harsh color and natural color, pulling off a technique that lifts the eye or not. When a tool is this important, it needs to be taken care of. It’s easy! Just a few simple steps to turn dingy brushes into fresh and clean ones.

1. Fill up your sink with some hand soap.

2. Put all your brushes in the sink and let them soak for a few minutes

3. After they soak, take each one and run water and your fingers through it to work out the soap.

4. Then set on a towel and let air dry!

Stay At Home Date Night

April 10, 2015

It’s a cool spring evening and you need a good date night but don’t necessarily feel like going out. Light a fire (while you still can) and get dressed, put on your face and have a date. At home nights together can be some of the most special times and wanting to look and feel your best is important no matter how many eyes are on you. Just the two eyes that matter.

Add a sultry vibe with a smoky eye and nude lip!

Behind the Scenes: March Campaign

March 17, 2015

My parents and I are so pleased with how the March ad campaign turned out this year! It was such a cool experience collaborating with my parents on how to pull all of our strengths together. I know I’m lucky to be able to enjoy working with my parents for long hours! It provides extra inspiration and refuels my creativity to put all of our artistic minds together. I wanted to share with you guys some behind the scene shots and a sneak peek as well as some of the colors we used. And all of it is shot at our home in Madison!

Enjoy! The ad can be seen in Delta Magazine, Mississippi Magazine, Northside Sun, Invitation Oxford and Social South

Peach Color Cast

February 28, 2015

I love Kendall Jenner’s glowing vibe in this edition of StyleWatch. It just so happens that I have been doing this same pinky/peachy color scheme for my daily look as of late. It is subtly warm and fresh which is perfect as we approach spring. My favorite part about recreating this look was experimenting with the Peach Color Cast, a new product that acts like a bronzer but proves to be better! With my fair skin I have never considered bronzer to be my optimal choice but this new product has filled my need for a little color every once in a while. Wear this peachy look with the Peach Color Cast, throw own some highlight and get that Kendall Jenner glow!

Shopping Spruce Up

February 16, 2015

I find that when I go shopping, in order to have the best experience I need to do a little sprucing up. So that when I look in the mirror while trying clothes on, I can feel good about myself and therefore give the clothes a fair shot. It’s also a way to make shopping a little more fun!

False Lashes

February 12, 2015

I used to stay away from false lashes because they seemed a little too “false” and unnecessary. Once we found Eylure (sold in Amy Head stores), I quickly became a believer. We have numerous different options from natural to dramatic for whatever look you are going for and they are simple to apply! AND they are great to use if you want to pull off that “no shadow with liner” look. Here’s how to do it!lashes-and-liner2

My favorite for this are the “natural” lashes.

Step 1: Use the glue wand to cover the base of the lashes. Don’t be too timid because it needs to be coated well to stay put

Step 2: Close your eye without scrunching up and place the lashes delicately on your lash line. If the lashes seem too long for your lash line, feel free to snip them to the right length. Once they are in the right place, gently press down to make them secure and let dry!

Step 3: Then to finish them off, coat the lash line with creme liner. In this case, black is the best and is being used with the Precision brush. Don’t forget mascara!

Voila! Here is the finished look with Terracotta Lip Liner and Tigress Lipstick

Love is in the Air

February 9, 2015

It feels so good to be back! I want to thank everyone for hangin’ in there with me while I work on what to bring you guys from “a daughter’s perspective”. Since launching, I have grown even more excited about what I hope to share with all of you and have discovered (hopefully) better ways to do it. Not much has changed but I think you will enjoy the parts that have. Thanks again for reading!

So… I want to talk about Valentine’s Day!! Now, before you roll your eyes at this some-what over done holiday, take this opportunity to love on your girlfriends if you don’t have a guy in your life. Use this day of love to celebrate all of your special relationships. For this look, of course, I had to do pink lips! I always find it so refreshing and fits perfectly with this holiday ;). Remember to have fun and don’t hold back! Happy Valentine’s Day!

The Happiest Time of the Year

December 3, 2014

Congratulations to Savannah Brantley for winning the Glam Face Case this month! I really hope it fulfills your holiday beauty needs this season.

I also want to announce that I will be taking the month of December off to get ready for the new year. Hopefully a new web design will be coming your way. I feel like AMYHEADLINES needs sprucing up and I am going to use this time off school to work on it, as well as some fresh new content! I want to make sure that I provide the best information I can, so I’m giving myself a refuel. So I hope everyone has an absolutely wonderful holiday season that is spent with love and family. See you in January!

A Mother and Daughter’s “Healthy” Relationship

November 18, 2014

Growing up my mom fed me all sorts of things that either tasted funny or were just plain weird. I played the usual “annoyed daughter” role and gave her a hard time (that’s what little girls are supposed to do right?). But as I got older, I realized she was just keeping me as healthy as possible, and I love her for it. Supplements like these were a big contribution to that “annoyed daughter” stage and even through high school I understood what they were and I would still forget to take them and didn’t realize how much I was depriving myself. Living on my own has changed me in many ways, and taking my vitamins is definitely one of those. I no longer had the constant reminder of what I should be doing to take care of myself and I felt the consequences. I have fully experienced the positive effect they have on my body and now do my best to never miss a dose.

This is my supplement cabinet!! We need nutritional supplements to keep a healthy immune system and for me it’s also about energy! Let’s focus this week on our health by choosing one new discipline. It WILL count! Be well:) – Amy
